Amelia Does, Biographer.
Amelia Does began research for a biography of Arthur Lipsett during her undergraduate degree in Film Studies at the University of Western Ontario. Amelia Does’ fascination with Lipsett’s compelling work and personality drove her to meet and interview dozens of people who knew him as a colleague, personal friend or family member.
In 2003 she partnered with film producer Dennis Mohr, editor Rob Ruzic, cinematographer Andrew Watt of Public Pictures and director (and former best friend of Lipsett) Martin Lavut to create a feature documentary about Lipsett. The film, Remembering Arthur, was screened at several festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Montreal's Festival du Nouveau Cinema in 2006 as well as broadcast on Tv Ontario.
Does has lectured on Lipsett, experimental film, and video for the University of Western Ontario, The Film Studies Association of Canada and the Winnipeg Film Group. In 2010 her interview with the late American artist Bruce Conner about Lipsett was published in Incite Journal of Experimental Studies. Does is currently producing a documentary film on the life of the late activist David F. Noble with Revival Films and writing for Public Pictures' latest project.
